The bright, patterned dining room at Stockhome in Petaluma

Stockhome

A personal pick: this Michelin Guide-listed restaurant is run by a friend of the guide.

Chef Roberth Sundell and his wife, Andrea, bring Stockholm roots to a generous counter-service menu in downtown Petaluma.

Swedish meatballs, shrimp skagen, salmon gyro, pancakes and house-made sea buckthorn sodas — Stockholm comfort food meeting Middle Eastern flavors in an easy, bright room. Save a little room for the Swedish candy wall.

This was one of the two places that opened our “people behind the places” series: the chef’s story is the place’s story. It stays a favorite for a Petaluma dinner, whether it is your first visit to the county or your fiftieth.
